Trauma Informed Instruction

Trauma resulting from overwhelming experiences has the power to disturb the development of a student’s academic and socio-emotional development. Research tells us that we can improve a child’s chances of overcoming traumatic experiences by emphasizing four key areas:

1. Developing relationships 2. Teaching self-regulation 3. Cultivating success in academic and non-academic areas 4.increasing emotional and physical well-being

This two day, grade level specific workshop will increase understanding of the impact of trauma on learning, expand knowledge of non-academic supports and academic supports strategies.

Standards Based Grading Workshop

No two teachers follow the same grading policies, so an agreed-upon definition of what constitutes mastery is needed. A standards-based approach to assessment holds students accountable for the learning and work required to make progress while accurately and ethically representing progress towards mastery of standards. In this two-day, grade level specific workshop, participants will expand their under-standing and knowledge of the value, purpose, and elements of evidence-based assessment and grading.

Each attendee will receive a FREE copy of Rick Wormeli’s book, “Fair Isn’t Always Equal” (second edition), to take home—a $30 value!
