Reading Informational Text
This series will help teachers develop practices to instruct students on how to access informational text more completely. The model for this workshop series will be the Fischer and Frey Rigorous Reading model. Participants will:
o Understand and implement the gradual release of responsibility for reading informational materials
o Learn how to conduct close reading and develop text-dependent questions
o Learn how to develop assessments for learning and checking for understanding
This is a series of workshops approximately one month apart to allow for ideas to be explored more deeply and then to return to share and refine them. There will be a concluding webinar in late May.
